Ausdrill locks in $200 million of contract extensions in WA’s Goldfields
Mining services company Ausdrill has secured more than $200 million worth of
contract extensions with two of its existing clients in the Goldfields region
of Western Australia – Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) and Gold
Fields.
Ausdrill has received
a $143 million contract renewal to provide drill and blast, and grade control
services for an additional five years at KCGM’s Super Pit gold mine, the
largest open pit operation in Australia. The contract renewal starts in March.
Perth-based Ausdrill,
which has provided services at the Super Pit for almost 30 years, has about 80
locally-based staff at the mine. KCGM is a joint venture between Barrick Gold
and Newmont Mining.
Ausdrill has also been
awarded a $60 million contract extension for three years to provide exploration
drilling services at Gold Fields’s St Ives and Granny Smith gold operations.
The Gold Fields
extension builds on Ausdrill’s work at the mines over the past two decades, the
company said in an ASX announcement.
Ausdrill managing
director Ron Sayers said the company’s relationship with KCGM and Gold Fields,
and involvement at the three mines, extends back to the very early days of the
business.
“We are delighted to
build on the relationships we have developed, which are based on our strong
safety record, our deep understanding of our clients’ operations and our
commitment to enhancing their productivity,” Sayers said.
